5-MEMBER COMMONWEALTH TEAM TO OBSERVE GENERAL ELECTIONS ON JANUARY 18

Former president of the Seychelles, Danny Faure, will lead a five-member team of Commonwealth election observers to Antigua and Barbuda for next week’s general election.
The other members are Kenyan politician and former senator Gideon Moi, Vincentian journalist Claire Keizer, member of the United Kingdom House of Lords, Baroness Denise Kingsmill and former chief election officer of Zambia, Patrick Kryticous Nshindano.
They will arrive in Antigua on January 14 for the January 18 elections.
The election observers will then make recommendations which will contribute towards strengthening the country’s electoral process.
The observer mission will submit its recommendations in a report to the Commonwealth secretary-general Patricia Scotland, who will forward it to the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission, party leaders and all Commonwealth governments.
