GG SAYS HE CANNOT CALL COMMISSION OF INQUIRY WITHOUT CABINET’S INPUT; CITES THREE LEGAL OPINIONS

The Office of the Governor General says Sir Rodney Williams cannot call a commission of inquiry, without the request of the cabinet, or a duly authorised minister.
The office issued a media release Tuesday afternoon, making it clear this is supported by three legal opinions, one of which dates back to 2002, while Sir Rodney’s predecessor occupied the post.
