Bill Passed In Lower House
The Lower House of Parliament debated and passed the Office of the Director of Audit Bill 2014 on Monday.
In tabling the legislation, Finance and Economy Minister, Harold Lovell, says the bill seeks to among other things reform operations at the audit office.
He outlines the main functions of the bill.
He adds that the act will also allow more streamlining of the office of the Director of Audit and will open up avenues for the continued independence of the director and the department.
The Finance and Economy Minister says the office has recently begun audit examinations of the National School Meals Program and the National Management of Solid Waste Authority.
Lovell adds that the training of staff in the audit office will be a major component under the new bill.
