GOVERNMENT TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR EMPLOYEES TO CHANGE TRADE UNIONS

The Government is exploring amendments to the country’s labour laws to allow employees greater freedom in choosing their preferred trade union for representation.

This development as the Government continues to advocate for workers in the hospitality sector to establish their own union.

Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne has highlighted the need to revise Section H of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Code, which addresses procedures for changing representation if workers are dissatisfied with their current union.
