SOME RESIDENTS RATTLED BY EXPLOSION AT TOWER IN COOLIDGE

Several residents reported being started by a controlled explosion at the Stanford Viewing Tower in Coolidge Thursday morning. Workmen reportedly used dynamite to weaken the base of the structure as part of demolition efforts. It is not clear to what extent this explosion was effective in weakening the structure. Our news team saw damage to a small section of the base of the tower.

The single explosion shortly before noon startled several residents in the area who said they had received no notice this would happen. It is not clear if the work crews had received permission from the authorities.
