GOVERNMENT MOVES TO TACKLE EYESORE OF ABANDONED BUILDINGS IN ST JOHN’S

The Government is continuing discussions about ridding the nation’s capital of abandoned buildings.

The buildings are not only eyesores, but present health and security hazards.

The issue was raised in Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, as the Inland Revenue Department showed photographs of 20 of these properties, where combined property taxes of over XCD$1 million is owed. Ercil Charles Jr reports
