Antigua and Barbuda has begun national consultations to update its Food Systems Pathway, the strategic roadmap guiding food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture through 2030.

Government officials, UN partners, farmers, civil society, and private-sector stakeholders gathered at the Royalton Antigua Wednesday morning to assess progress and identify priority actions.

Agriculture Minister Hon. Anthony Smith Jr highlighted the goal of ensuring “every citizen has access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food even during disasters and economic shocks.”

Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. E.P. Chet Greene called the meeting a “call to action”, urging participants to move beyond talk and develop practical, measurable steps to strengthen local production, reduce food imports, and support farmers, fisherfolk, women, and youth across the sector.
