PM GASTON BROWNE HOPES TO MEET T&T COUNTERPART TO DISCUSS CLICO/BAICO
Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne is hopeful for bilateral talks with his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart, Kamla Persad Bissessar, to seek relief for former policyholders of CLICO and BAICO.
Several former policyholders in Antigua and Barbuda and the rest of the OECS are awaiting compensation after the collapse of Colonial Life Insurance Company and British American Insurance Company over a decade ago.
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago committed US$100 million in compensation, but has only paid 40 per cent of that amount.
Prime Minister Browne says he expects to advance these discussions at the Caricom Heads of Government Meeting in St Kitts and Nevis next February.
