NSWMA Chief Meets with Disgruntled Workers
The General Manager of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Indira James-Henry, says a misunderstanding over pay and benefits triggered today’s work stoppage by sanitation workers.
Some staff have returned to work, but several still say they are prepared to protest until they see changes in salary, incentives and benefits. They are also calling for her to resign as they are unsatisfied with her management style.
Speaking after meeting with staff, she gave this explanation about where she believes the misunderstanding is occurring.
