Woman Stabbed During Home Invasion

A 62-year-old woman is now in hospital after being attacked by a knife-wielding assailant at her home in Browne’s Avenue early Thursday morning.

The woman told investigators she was at home about 5:50am, when a man barged into her home and attacked her with a knife.

The woman sustained several stab wounds to her left arm and at least once in her face as she tried to block the assailant’s attacks.

She made an alarm and the man fled on foot; it is not clear if he made off with any valuables from the home.

The security forces have intensified their operations to curtail a spate of recent gun crimes. Parliament’s Lower House passed an amended Firearms Law on Monday, imposing minimum sentences of up to 15 years for serious gun offences.
