New Ambassador To Cuba
Antigua & Barbuda names a new resident ambassador to the Republic of Cuba.
He is former general manager of APUA, Peter Benjamin, who has been tipped by Prime Minister, Hon. Gaston Browne to take up the post in Havana.
Ambassador Benjamin says he is very happy to receive the call from the government to serve the country in this critical manner.
As ambassador, Benjamin says his first order of business will be to explore ways for Antigua and Barbuda to strengthen its relationship with the Spanish-speaking country.
He says he wants to take a closer look at the engineering achievements of the Cuban people to see how Antigua and Barbuda can tap into such vast knowledge and skills.
Benjamin’s appointment comes at a time when Cuba has increased its medical scholarships to this country from six to twelve. Just this week, Prime Minister Browne called for deepening in the relationship between the two countries.
Benjamin served at APUA for 17 years…10 of which he served as general manager.
