Arrests Made In Haiti’s Stampede Aftermath
Arrests have been made and Haiti has begun three days of national mourning, following a deadly stampede at the Citadelle Laferriere in the northern part of the country.
National police said on Monday they arrested seven people in the town of Milot, at the foot of the citadel, suspected of involvement. Those arrested include five municipal police officers and two National Heritage Preservation Institute staff members. At least 25 people were killed in the crush that formed at the entrance of the popular tourist site on Saturday, with some visitors pressing to exit while others pushed to enter.
