Cuban Revolution recognized in Antigua & Barbuda.
Antigua and Barbuda joins in recognizing the 55th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution that paved the way for the Spanish country’s development.
George Goodwin, one of the first students to study in Cuba, says the pre revolution era was a dire time for most people and he appreciates the advances the rebellion created.
He adds that Cuba now rivals first world countries in terms of certain human development aspects. Goodwin adds that the progress is even more remarkable because it took place in the face of American trade sanctions.
Over 70 Cubans are working here, to include doctors, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists and tradesmen and technicians in the road program. Other activities to commemorate the celebration include a cooking magic episode highlighting Cuban cuisine on January 16, a donation of books to the Public Library and a reception at the Multi-Purpose Cultural Centre tentatively set for January 22.
