Police have intensified investigations into Tuesday’s execution-style killing of Horst Scherping.

The 63-year-old mechanic and former Mercedes Benz car dealer was shot in the upper body during an attack at his Longfords home.

His wife Erika Scherping, a tour rep and founder of Antigua European Travel Service (AETS), was gun-butted and robbed.

Police say four armed robbers, all dressed in dark clothing, and forced their way into the couple’s home.

After the assault, the thieves grabbed the woman’s keys to her black Suzuki Grand Vitara A 5378 and fled in the vehicle.

The stolen SUV was found burnt out on a farm in Bethesda.

They are urging residents to contact the nearest police station, Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 4672-3913/4 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477) to report any information regarding the incident that resulted in the country’s first homicide.
