Long-Time Youth Choir Director Dies

Dr. Renee Smith, who directed the National Youth Choir for many years, has died. 

News of the long-time educator’s passing broke early Thursday morning.  She oversaw the creation of the UWI Five Island Singers, comprising many former members of the Youth Choir.  She had directed those vocal exploits at local, regional, and international recitals and concerts.  She was also credited with teaching and mentoring countless young people.  

Dr. Smith received her PhD from Walden University.  She was 48.
