NSWMA Staff Withhold Services
About 60 workers from the landfill and garbage collection departments of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) stopped working today.
They say their main issue is the lack of incentives and benefits. The workers argue they are not being treated fairly compared to employees in other government departments, such as Public Works.
They are also calling for the removal of the General Manager, claiming management has not addressed their concerns.
The protest has disrupted garbage collection services, and discussions are expected as efforts are made to resolve the situation.
The General Manager, Indira James-Henry has arrived on the scene and is now meeting with employees.
