Police Appeal to Event Organizers Ahead of CHOGM 2026
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, August 26, 2026
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is appealing to promoters, event planners, entertainment organizers, and other stakeholders to consider rescheduling major events planned between October 30 and November 5, 2026, during the hosting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The hosting of CHOGM will require an extensive national security operation, with a significant deployment of police personnel and other security resources to ensure the safety of visiting Heads of Government, dignitaries, delegates, residents, and the wider public.
During this period, a substantial portion of the Force’s resources will be committed to CHOGM-related duties, while the Police Force must also maintain its regular crime-fighting responsibilities and essential policing services across Antigua and Barbuda.
Against this background, event organizers are strongly encouraged to refrain from submitting applications for major entertainment and large-scale events during October 30 to November 5 and, where possible, defer or reschedule such events outside of this period.
The Police Administration recognizes the important contribution of the entertainment and events sector and appreciates the cooperation and understanding of promoters, organizers, and members of the general public during this period of national importance.
