More than 100 participants representing over 40 companies across Antigua, alongside students from the Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS), came together over two days for Raise the Bar, a mixology and cocktail development seminar focused on improving the quality, consistency and creativity of beverage service within the hospitality industry.

Held on October 19 and 20 at The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, the seminar was presented through a collaboration involving Anjo Wholesale Distributors, American Beverage Marketers and the Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA). The initiative brought industry professionals and aspiring hospitality practitioners together to strengthen practical skills and explore how service behind the bar contributes to the wider guest experience.

Facilitated by professional bartender and mixologist David Pérez, the sessions focused on cocktail development, preparation techniques, measuring and pouring, garnish and presentation, product knowledge and customer communication. The emphasis was on practical approaches that participants could take back to their workplaces and apply in their everyday service.

Throughout the two days, attendees were receptive, engaged and eager to contribute. Questions, shared experiences and the exchange of ideas helped make the seminar a collaborative learning experience. Participants showed a strong interest in refining their craft while discussing ways to deliver more consistent, memorable experiences for the people they serve.
