SIR RONALD SANDERS CALLS FOR ACTION AMIDST INCREASED PRESSURE ON SMALL STATES
Veteran diplomat Sir Ronald Sanders says small and vulnerable economies in the Caribbean and across the Americas are under growing strain and insists the Organisation of American States must do more to help.
Sir Ronald made the call during a meeting of the OAS’ Permanent Council in Washington D.C.
The council met Tuesday to consider the appointment of a new executive secretary for integral development, the OAS body responsible for advancing economic, social and human development across the Americas.
Sir Ronald used the occasion to call attention to the pressures bearing down on smaller states.
He seconded the nomination of Canadian diplomat Isabel Valois for the post, saying a Canadian in the role could make a meaningful difference.
