SIR RONALD SANDERS WARNS ABOUT CHRONIC UNDER-FUNDING OF OAS

Antigua and Barbuda’s top diplomat in Washington D.C., Sir Ronald Sanders, is calling for stronger funding and institutional independence for the Organisation of American States.

The veteran diplomat has issued the dire warning, as he insisted that the OAS is under financial and political strain.

Sir Ronald was addressing the hemispheric grouping’s General Assembly in Panama City.

He explained the organization continues to serve as a critical rules-based diplomatic forum, where countries of the Americas can engage in dialogue and collective decision-making, but its effectiveness requires proper funding.
