Tributes Pour in Following Death of Mary Claire Hurst

Former Minister of State for Tourism and Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party senator, Mary Claire Hurst has died.

Prime Minister Rt Hon. Gaston Browne made the announcement during the swearing-in of the remaining members of his executive at the American University of Antigua. The Prime Minister, visibly jolted by the news, expressed condolences to Hurst’s family and expressed the party’s support In this period of bereavement.

Hurst served as Junior Minister for Tourism, General Secretary of the ABLP, Chairman of the Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority, and Leader of Government Business in the senate, among other roles in the public service.

Hurst, affectionately called ‘Tanty’ in the ABLP, was widely regarded as an influential figure in public policy, governance, and was praised for her commitment and dedication.
