LORNA SIMON CELEBRATES 50TH YEARS IN PUBLIC SECTOR
Supervisor of Elections Lorna Simon is celebrating a major milestone in the public sector of Antigua & Barbuda.
Simon has been supervising elections in this country for the past 16 years after becoming the first woman to be appointed to the position in 2003.
However, this is a mere fraction of the years of service she has given to the public sector of Antigua & Barbuda.
Tuesday marks 50 years since her appointment as Junior Clerk in the Medical Division in 1969.
Since then, she has served in just about every Ministry from Finance, Trade, Tourism, Education and Foreign Affairs to Youth, Sports, Community Development and Environment.
With 50 years of working experience under her belt, Simon advises young people to take advantage of opportunities to expand their learning.
