TOURIST FIGURES OUT OF USA LOOKING UP

Local tourism officials continue to be excited about the propensity for tourist arrivals to increase.

Dean Fenton who serves as the US Director of Tourism says the recent change in the US CDC ranking of Antigua and Barbuda has had a gigantic impact on the travel decisions of Americans. Antigua and Barbuda is now in Category 1 indicating low risk of transmission of Covid-19. He says rising vaccination figures particularly for those working in travel and tourism should augur well for the industry.

Coupled with increasing demand, the return of cruising and increased numbers of flights in coming weeks, Antigua and Barbuda is set to see some semblance of normality in tourist arrivals in coming months.

Fenton says the 50 and over market and high end travelers will continue to be market segments of interest but pent up demand should see travelers of all demographics arriving in droves.
