Action to be taken against students found loitering
Action will be taken against students who are found loitering on the streets after school hours. This is according to the Ministry of Education who is sending a stern warning to students. Deputy Director of Education Clare Browne says the ministry is moving to curb an escalating problem of students loitering in the city. He says the problem, which involves mostly secondary students is “totally unacceptable” and will not be tolerated by his department.
Browne says he plans to address principals, who will in turn speak to parents on the matter. The deputy director of education says the problem needs to be handled as a matter of urgency, and called on parents to ensure their children return home at the end of the school day.
The Deputy Director of Education says students need to use their time wisely for completing homework and studies.
