ELECTRICITY COSTS COULD FALL IF PETROCARIBE RESUMES – PM BROWNE
There could be a significant reduction in electricity costs in Antigua and Barbuda if Venezuela’s Petrocaribe oil deal resumes.
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Gaston Browne made the disclosure during an interview with ABS News on Thursday.
He says efforts have been ongoing to cajole the United States to lift the sanctions which have crippled the concessionary arrangement started by the late Hugo Chavez in 2005.
He says Antigua and Barbuda has been spearheading those efforts as rising global energy prices continue to push up inflationary pressures in the region.
