ECONOMIST CITES ECLAC GROWTH PROJECTION AS GOOD NEWS FOR A&B; URGES FISCAL DISCIPLINE

Professor C. Justin Robinson says the projected growth of 6.3 per cent for Antigua and Barbuda’s economy this year is good news, and one of the few bright spots in the region.
He was reacting to the latest annual report from the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC.
The twin-island state is projected to be the second fastest growing economy in Latin America and the Caribbean this year, with growth in real Gross Domestic Product, projected at 6.8 per cent.
However, Professor Robinson says the Government should make the most of this period of high growth, since there are risks from several external factors.
