A&B PRAISED FOR HIGHEST CLEARANCE RATE FOR COURT CASES IN SUB-REGION

The High Court of Antigua and Barbuda has earned commendation for achieving a clearance rate of 256 per cent, the highest among the nine countries and territories of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

This was disclosed by Acting Chief Justice, Mario Michel during a special sitting of the ECSC in St Lucia on Friday to mark the ceremonial opening of the new law year.

He applauded the court’s efficiency in managing its case-load over the 2023-2024 period.

The clearance rate measures the number of cases disposed of in a period relative to the number of cases filed.

A rate above 100% indicates that the court is resolving more cases than are being introduced, effectively reducing backlogs and enhancing overall judicial efficiency.

Registrar of Antigua and Barbuda’s High Court, Cecile Hill, says this achievement typifies a commitment to delivering timely justice.
