Thousands Gathered To Mourn Chantel Crump
The Cathedral of St. John the Divine was awash in pink as hundreds gathered to bid farewell to Chantel Crump, who would have celebrated her 10th birthday Monday. Remembered fondly for her short but cherished life, Chantel was honoured by an entire community in mourning.
The Very Reverend Dean Dwayne Cassius offered words of comfort, especially to the many children present, assuring them that despite the evil in the world, they are surrounded by love, support, and hope for their future.
Chantel was laid to rest in a flower-covered tomb, adorned with vibrant pink flowers and teddy bears left by mourners. Tears flowed freely at the graveside as many struggled with emotion while her coffin was gently lowered into its final resting place.
