ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA OFFICIALLY ACCEDES TO CARICOM ARREST WARRANT TREATY

Antigua and Barbuda is formalizing its participation in the CARICOM Arrest Warrant Treaty, with the instruments of accession deposited by Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. E.P. Chet Greene on Tuesday.

Minister Greene deposited the formal documents during the second day of the 49th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, being held in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The CARICOM Arrest Warrant Treaty aims to streamline the process of surrendering individuals among CARICOM member states, for the purpose of prosecution or serving a sentence. The treaty enhances law enforcement cooperation and simplifies the process for apprehending individuals who commit crimes in one CARICOM country and then flee to another.
