UWI FIC BROKEN INTO FOR SECOND TIME THIS YEAR

Thieves made off with thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment from the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, during a break-in over the past weekend.

UWI officials discovered their offices had been ransacked, with several computers and microwave ovens missing.

Earlier this year, thieves targeted maintenance equipment, making off with several lawn mowers, weed whackers as well as air compressors and air-conditioning units.

Members of the public are being urged to be wary of who they make purchases from. It’s an offence under the Larceny Act to purchase stolen items.
