LIAT Air Assesses Routes Amid Surge in Fuel Costs
LIAT Air says it is feeling the strain of rising fuel costs brought on by the war in the Middle East.
Chief Executive Officer of the Antigua-based regional carrier, Hafsah Abdulsalam, says jet fuel prices have jumped significantly in recent weeks, pushing up operating costs by as much as 30 per cent.
She says the airline has been absorbing the increased costs to shield passengers from immediate fare increases, but that approach is no longer sustainable.
Abdulsalam says while no immediate adjustments have been made to ticket prices, the carrier is evaluating routes on a case-by-case basis.
