MINISTER TURNER MAKES IMPASSIONED CALL TO THE NATION AMID CHILD ABUSE SCOURGE

Parliament’s Lower House has passed the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill 2026, which imposes tougher sentences for sex crimes against minors, including life sentences in certain cases.

During debate on the legislation on Monday, Social and Urban Transformation Minister, Hon Rawdon Turner, outlined stark details about the grave threats children have been facing in the state.
