Wage Increase And Formal Training For Prison Officers Could Be On The Horizon
A wage increase and formal training could be on the horizon for prison officers in Antigua & Barbuda.
Prison Superintendent Albert Wade has recommended the pay raise, as he is of the view that in addition to fear and lack of training, low wages is a reason prison guards commit unethical acts.
The superintendent explains why on-the-job training is not the best approach and plans to remedy the issue.
He adds that once the manual is complete, formal training will begin.
