The Government Has Commissioned A Study On The High Cost Of Living

The high cost of living in Antigua and Barbuda is a growing concern for all residents and now the government is moving to do something about it.

ABS News now understands that the government has commissioned a study to look into all the factors that affect prices in the country and to examine how to make the cost of living more affordable.

The Ministry of Trade is working through the National Authorising Office to secure the services of an expert from the U.N Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean – ECLAC.

Head of the N-A-O, Ambassador Dr. Clarence Henry, says the study will include consultation with key stakeholders as well as policy makers. At the end of the exercise a report will be presented to Cabinet with a set of recommendations to be implemented.

Trade Minister Hon. Paul Chet Greene says the study will be broad-based in scope.
