The House Speaker Fires Back After Being Accused Of Bias

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sir Gerald Watt, says former Speaker, D Gisele Isaac, does not have the moral authority to criticize his handling the affairs of the House.

Sir Gerald was responding to comments made by Isaac on a weekend talk-show where she accused him of being bias in favour of the government.

But Sir Gerald says he is not prepared to accept such criticisms coming from the former speaker.

Sir Gerald also addressed the issue of the walk staged by the government members over the member of All Saints East and St Luke’s repeated absence from the debate.

He says she made her intentions clear that she wanted to speak last before the wrap-up…but that this was always going to be problematic for her.

Sir Gerald says he handled the walk-out exactly as prescribed for by the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives.
