Free Trade Zone
Government will be putting a number of measures in place to bring to reality Sir Lester Bird’s vision of returning the Free Trade Zone to a vibrant institution.
Chairman of the Free Trade Zone, Senator Michael Freeland, says they are seeking to attract quite a number of investors. He notes that the zone was once very active, with 8 gaming companies in Antigua, 100 off shore companies and 164 licensed IBC companies.
Freeland added that with the right marketing strategy, it can once again become an economic boost for the twin island state.
The Chairman adds that to date, there has been positive feedback, and various investors have shown interest.
He continues that they are currently in discussions with quite a few regional agencies, to discuss potential investment opportunities that are based around the region, and how the twin island state can capitalize on that.
A collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Trade will also be established, to see how best all agencies can work together in realizing a common goal.
