The Prime Minister Says The Country Is Making Strides In Efforts To Shift To Renewable Energy
Antigua and Barbuda is well ahead in increasing its supply of energy from renewable sources by 20 per cent by the year 2020.
That’s according to Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne, who says that the issue of energy is an area where the government has made significant strides.
The Prime Minister adds that the time is long overdue for Antigua and Barbuda to explore renewable energy options, which will curtail the cost of fuel significantly and allow the country to be more competitive where the cost of production is concerned.
As the market reflects, prices for solar and wind sources are gradually decreasing, which energy officials here anticipate will be an advantage in the country’s thrust towards use of alternative energy sources.
The Renewable Energy Bill 2015 passed both Houses of Parliament in recent months.
