The Online Article By Ian Moncrief-Scott As The Writer Has Always Been Hostile To Antigua And Barbuda

Senior Counsel Anthony Astaphan has taken umbrage with the writer of an online article that sought to sully the reputation of the country’s Citizenship by Investment programme.

In questioning the credibility of the author, Astaphan, who has represented the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party on a number of legal matters, says the writer Ian Moncreif-Scott – has a history of being hostile to the government and people of Antigua and Barbuda.

The Senior Counsel notes that contrary to what was stated in the article, it was the government that had detained the 14 Syrian nationals as it was felt that they wanted to seek illegal entry into the USVI.

Astaphan adds that many countries in the world have C-I-P programmes…and they do not take away from their sovereignty or independence. Additionally, he says in his native Dominica…the International Monetary Fund has describes its C-I-P programme as a valuable source of government financing. –
