Non-nationals who missed out on the offer of amnesty from the government may have to pay.

The Immigration Department is planning to apply a delinquent fee on those persons who failed to take up the opportunity to get regularized.

The amnesty was also extended to persons who also had gaps in their stay; that is, they left the island and returned.

Immigration Chief Annette Mark spoke to ABS News this week about the new charge.

In general though, Mark is pleased with the results of the amnesty, noting that the benefits have gone well beyond bringing the country’s immigration house in order.
