Access to HIV/AIDS treatment and care for infected persons in Antigua & Barbuda continues to be a challenge and the AIDS Secretariat is hoping that this could be remedied in the New Year.

AIDS program co-ordinatior Delcora Williams says decentralizing HIV testing has been a goal of the secretariat in the past but in 2015, it will be intensifying efforts in this regard.

Williams says 199 persons are currently accessing HIV care and treatment in the public system but the goal is to have these individuals receive treatment throughout the health care system within the twin island state.
