Antigua and Barbuda and the Republic of Kenya have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Diplomatic and Political Consultations, further strengthening relations between the two Commonwealth nations. The signing took place during a high-level bilateral engagement on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026.

The MoU was signed by Ms Sharon Stevens, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Immigration of Antigua and Barbuda, and H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

The Antigua and Barbuda delegation comprised Permanent Secretary Stevens and H.E. Theon Ali, Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to the State of Qatar, non-resident Ambassador to the Syrian Arab Republic and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement establishes a structured framework for regular consultations between the two foreign ministries, with meetings held alternately in each country. The consultations will cover bilateral, regional and global matters of mutual interest, including issues before international organisations of which both countries are members. The MoU also provides scope for cooperation in economic affairs, culture, education, science and sports. It will remain in force for an initial period of five years, renewable for a further five years.
