ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA RECORDS SEVENTH COVID-19 DEATH

A 39 year year old man is the seventh person to die from COVID-19 in Antigua and Barbuda. This was confirmed in a release from the Mount St John’s Medical Centre on Friday night. The hospital says he was admitted to the hospital about 10:30pm on January 24 with symptoms indicating possible COVID-19 infection. A rapid antigen test carried out shortly after he was admitted confirmed he was positive for COVID-19, and the diagnosis was later confirmed with a PCR test. The hospital says his condition deteriorated despite oxygen care and other treatment. He died at 9:09pm on January 29.

MSJMC Medical Director Dr Albert Duncan says the hospital is “facing mounting pressure of more people being hospitalized.” He is urging everyone to continue to follow public health advice.
