BERMUDA MINES CARIBBEAN’S FIRST GOLD IN TOKYO OLYMPICS

Bermuda’s Flora Duffy has won gold in the triathlon in the Tokyo Olympics, the first-ever gold for Bermuda. The 33 year old Duffy turned out an imperious performance in the event made up of swimming, cycling and running; winning in an hour, 55 minutes, 36 seconds. This was more than a minute ahead of the second-placed Georgia Taylor-Brown of Great Britain.

The British Overseas Territory has created history by becoming the smallest nation or territory to win Olympic gold. Bermuda has a population of 63,000. It is also the Caribbean’s first gold medal of these games.
