CABINET VETOES FESTIVALS COMMISSION’S DECISION ON LIVE CARNIVAL BROADCASTS

Cabinet says all official Carnival shows are to be broadcast live.

The unanimous decision at its meeting on Wednesday overturns an earlier communication from the Festivals Commission about a mandatory 24-hour delay before any shows could be aired.

Director General for Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office, Maurice Merchant says the decision to broadcast the shows live was supported by Creative Industries Minister, Hon. Dwayne George.

It was also revealed the decision was taken to facilitate foreign viewership and local viewers who are unable to attend the events.

However, citizens and residents are encouraged to physically support the various shows.
