CARICOM CONGRATULATES PM BROWNE ON STERLING LEADERSHIP OF AOSIS

The 24th meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) within CARICOM concluded earlier this month.

Ambassador Anthony Liverpool, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was in attendance and says the body congratulated Prime Minister Honourable Gaston Browne on his sterling leadership of the Association of Small Island States (AOSIS). Ambassador Dr. W. Audrey Webson, this country’s Ambassador to the United Nations, currently chairs the grouping.

Prime Minister Browne has been very vocal in articulating the fragility of these small island states and the resultant peculiar threats.

COFCOR brings together this region’s foremost authorities on foreign policy who meet yearly to negotiate better foreign and community relations to benefit the region.  COVID- 19 and concessionary funding were other key topics discussed at the meeting.
