CENTRAL BANK PREPARES FOR GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY OF PEGGING OF EC DOLLAR TO US

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank will be marking a momentous milestone this year.

July 7 will mark the 50th anniversary of the decision to peg the Eastern Caribbean Dollar to the US currency.

Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Valda Henry, says residents in the Currency Union have benefitted from the stability of the EC dollar.

Several activities have been planned to mark the milestone, including a high-level panel discussion to be hosted at the Bank’s headquarters in St Kitts and Nevis.

It will be moderated by ABS’ Garfield Burford.
