Cocaine Seized

The Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Antigua Barbuda Defense Force Coast Guard, conducted a joint search on Wednesday, resulting in the seizure of 341.88lbs of cannabis. The estimated wholesale value of the drugs amounted to six hundred and eighty three thousand EC dollars ( $683,000.). The area of operation was on the southern end of the island where it is believed the drugs entered Antigua by boat and were being transported in the back of a pick-up truck when they were discovered. Jamaul Edgecombe, a 28 year old Antiguan male who resides at Urlings Village and Alondo Massiah, a 45 year old Vincentian National were both detained in connection with the seizure. The duo have been jointly charged with the following; Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Transfer, Being Concerned in the Supply of Cannabis and Drug Trafficking. This successful operation comes on the heels of another recent seizure by the Customs and Excise Division and The Royal Police Force, where they discovered over 200 Lbs of cannabis at a port of entry. The combined efforts of the national law enforcement agencies removed over 500 lbs of cannabis which would have been destined for the streets of Antigua and Barbuda.
