A High Court Judge in Dominica has restricted law enforcers from repatriating Mehul Choksi from the nature isle.

Justice M. E. Birnie Stephenson has also ordered that Choksi be allowed to meet with legal counsel immediately.

Lawyers Wayne Marsh, Julian Prevost, Wayne Norde and Cara Shillingford-Marsh petitioned the court on Thursday, arguing Choksi had been kidnapped from Antigua & Barbuda.

They also contended that Choksi had been denied his right to counsel after law enforcers detained him in Dominica for allegedly entering the country illegally.

The lawyers said the Indian-born Mogul fears he will be taken to India without due process.

Choksi’s lawyers have also filed a writ of habeas corpus. The court will hear arguments concerning this at 9 am tomorrow.
