FIRST DEATH FROM COVID-19 IN ST VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

A 49 year old woman has become the first person to die from COVID-19 in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The authorities in Kingstown say she had multiple pre-existing conditions and went to hospital with breathing difficulties on the evening of January 14. Her condition rapidly deteriorated and she died at 5pm on January 15. Health authorities say there are now 24 people admitted with COVID-19 in the country.

Meanwhile, there were 62 new COVID-19 cases confirmed overnight, 61 of whom are nationals with no history of recent travel. St Vincent and the Grenadines has now recorded 450 cases of COVID-19, 339 of whom are active cases. There are now 316 local cases under investigation.
