FORBES NOT GUILTY OF ESCAPING CUSTODY

Murder accused Delano Forbes has been found not guilty of escaping lawful custody two years ago.

The verdict was handed down by Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel-Edwards in the District B Magistrates Court this morning

A nationwide manhunt was launched for the prisoner after officers reported Forbes escaped while he led them on an evidence-gathering visit in Swetes February 12, 2018.

However, during the trial, which ended this month, Forbes testified an officer gave him the key to his ankle shackles and told him he was free to go.

When the prisoner was found weeks later he was no longer restrained by the shackles and the key to the shackles has never been recovered.

At the time of the incident, the then 23-year-old had been charged with three murders in which investigators claim he drained and drank the blood of his victims.

While on the run Forbes allegedly killed another man and was later charged with a fourth murder.

Forbes was represented by attorney Sherfield Bowen.
